MThe Library of PM Shri Government Madhav College, Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) was established in 1980 and serves as a vital academic resource for students and faculty. Though librarian posts are currently vacant, the library operates efficiently with the help of three support staff. Open from Monday to Friday between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM, the library offers a rich collection of 1,24,509 books, including textbooks, general reading, reference materials, and resources under the Book Bank Scheme active from 2006 to 2012. The library subscribes to 14 newspapers, including daily and employment-related ones, and 3 magazines, including academic journals covering subjects like English, History, Political Science, Education, Sociology, and Commerce. To support specialized studies, the library maintains departmental sections for disciplines such as Fine Arts, Philosophy, History, Sociology, Urdu, Marathi, and Hindi. A reading hall accommodates 25–30 students and provides access to newspapers, magazines, reference books, and previous years’ question papers. The E-Granthalaya automation system allows smooth circulation of books, and the library also provides Wi-Fi connectivity to students and faculty. Through QR code-enabled digital access, users can explore resources like Web OPAC, N-List (with access to over 6000 e-journals and 1,00,000 e-books), NDLI, ePG Pathshala, and syllabi. The Open Access System allows postgraduate students and teachers to directly browse and borrow books. The library provides additional support services, especially to SC/ST students, under the government’s Book Bank Scheme, distributing free textbooks and stationery. A Student Book Assistance Cell has been established with books published by the Madhya Pradesh Hindi Granth Academy. Over the past four years, significant investments have been made in purchasing new academic material. For instance, in 2021–22, 1,290 books were bought using Janbhagidari funds worth ₹2.32 lakhs; in 2022–23, 4,259 books worth ₹11.95 lakhs were added; and in 2023–24, 5,450 books worth ₹13.35 lakhs were procured. In 2024–25, the government funded the purchase of 187 reference books worth ₹47,998. The library's operations and development are guided by a Library Committee, including respected faculty members such as Dr. Sandhya Jain (Coordinator), Dr. Shobha Mishra, Dr. Vaidnath Joshi, and others. A separate Student Book Support Committee also functions to manage assistance services, including members like Ramesh Magre, Dr. Mansoor Khan, and Prof. Ray Singh Solanki.
